Om Shloka Academy combines the powers of chanting & storytelling:

Benefits of Chanting:

Chanting, either done individually or in a group, have profound physical, mental and emotional benefits. The rhythmic up and down vibration created by chanting shlokas create positive effect. The effect on the body is possible even if the person chanting does not know the meaning of the shloka.

If you are not familiar with chants, research articles are available on the benefits of chanting that you can familiarize with if you wish. This program is not affiliated with such research and does not guarantee effects.

Benefits of Storytelling:

Storytelling is a very powerful way to persuade people by uniting an idea with an emotion. The best way to do that is by telling a compelling story. In a story, you not only weave a lot of information into the telling but you also arouse your listener’s emotions and energy. Persuading with a story is hard. Any intelligent person can sit down and make lists. It takes rationality but little creativity to design an argument using conventional rhetoric. But it demands vivid insight and storytelling skill to present an idea that packs enough emotional power to be memorable. If you can harness imagination and the principles of a well-told story, then you get people rising to their feet amid thunderous applause.

If you are not familiar with storytelling, research articles are available on how storytelling styles persuade people to change. This program is not affiliated with such research and does not guarantee effects.

Learning Model (Perform To Learn)

Om Shloka Academy offers five levels of shloka learning leveraging a quarter system delivered in two languages (Sanskrit & Tamil). Our motto is to perform to learn. Yes, you read it right. We encourage early performances as soon as the first quarter of learning to develop effective learning strategies that meets each learner's needs. These performances and continuous learning progress throughout the course of study.

  • Student, parent (where applicable for young learners) & teacher together choose the right language of learning that's best fit for success (Sanskrit or Tamil)

  • Each level of learning typically takes a year (variations apply based on student commitment)

  • Each year has 4 quarters with each quarter typically having 10 sessions

  • Weekly connect

    • Student meets the teacher weekly once for an online lesson where materials are introduced, and homework assigned

  • Daily practice

    • Student is expected to practice daily 10 - 30 minutes based on learning level

  • Quarterly Performances & Assessments

    • Each quarter, the student must take an assessment and prove mastery of current quarter's material to progress to the next quarter.

  • Annual Performance & Assessment
