Shloka chanting will be rendered in Tamil. Storytelling will be rendered in Tamil or English based on learner's language proficiency.
Level 1 : Foundations
Theory - Focus on foundational elements including introduction to Devi, Murti, Avatars, Navagraha, temple foundations, festivals & traditions.
Practice - Focus on basic presentation skills including eye focus, body & hand posture, concentration and pronunciations.
Quarter 1: Trimurti, Devi & Avatars. 1 line chants. (Example: Om Nama Sivaya)
Quarter 2: 2 line Shloka & songs (Example: Guru Brahma)
Quarter 3: 2 - 4 line Shloka & songs on Devi (Example: Aathalai Engal abiramavalli)
Quarter 4: 2 - 4 line Shloka & songs on Murti (Example: Uruvai Aruvai)
Level 2 : Beginner
Theory - Focus on shloka series (Panchaksharam #5, SapthaShloki #7, Ashtagam #8)
Practice - Demonstrate understanding of the essence of shloka and organized presentation skills (Introduction, Content & Conclusion)

Theory - Focus on extended shloka series like sahasranama (thousand names) with understanding of the essence, overall meaning and history of the author & literature.
Practice - Demonstrate excellence in pronunciation and deep understanding of the literary content with introductory aspects of storytelling. Demonstrate simple story telling abilities and understanding of overarching narrative.

Student and teacher can choose the topic that is of interest to study
Theory - Focus on mastery of literature that is chosen jointly by the student and teacher.
Practice - Demonstrate ability to engage audience in story-telling using the art of "Kathakalakshepam" (passing time with stories) aka "Harikatha" with emphasis on current day examples that are relevant and easily understood by audience. Demonstrate character emotions using facial expressions, musical talent using voice or instruments and use of imagination to bring story & characters to life.
